TUNNEL OF CALIBRATION

The S4 wind tunnel has been designed and built specifically for the calibration of anemometers. The flow in the test section and the procedures followed by the LAC/IDR comply with all the requirements of ENAC, MEASNET and IECRE. It has been in operation since 2003 and has since calibrated more than 25,000 anemometers.

It is a closed-loop, open-circuit, closed-chamber, current-blown wind tunnel. Its main features are:

  • Test chamber:
    • Square section of 0.9 m sides.
    • Length 1.2 m.
  • Maximum speed 30 m/s
  • Turbulence intensity <0.1%.
  • Uniformity >0.1%
  • Equipped with 4 fans
  • Total electrical power of 30 kW

 

Our officies


The University Institute of Microgravity "Ignacio Da Riva" is part of the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid. We have one site at the Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingeniería Aeronáutica y del Espacio, within the Moncloa campus, and another at the Montegacedo campus.
