THE IDR-UPM

The University Institute of Microgravity "Ignacio Da Riva" of the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (IDR-UPM) is a research and teaching centre of the highest scientific and technical level, whose objectives are to plan, promote, carry out and disseminate research, development and technological innovation in the scientific and technological fields of aerospace.

One of the objectives of the IDR/UPM is to train highly qualified doctoral and post-graduate students.

IDR/UPM currently has a stable team of more than 30 people (PhDs, engineers, graduates and technical staff) and a variable number of collaborators and students at all levels, whose number varies according to the needs of the different programmes in progress.

  • 114 publications in international scientific journals
  • 16 doctoral theses defended
  • 78 presentations at international conferences
  • 15 I+D projects financed through competitive public calls
  • 11 contracts with the industry, of which 89 were tests in wind tunnels
  • More than 9000 calibrated anemometers
