AB6 WIND TUNNEL

The AB6 wind tunnel is located in the Prof. José Meseguer Ruiz building on UPM's Montegancedo campus. It has been specially designed for dynamic testing of aerodynamic profiles of wind turbines.

   

 

Its main features are:

  • Test chamber:
    • Section 2.9 m high and 0.5 m wide.
    • Length 3.2 m.
  • Maximum speed 35 m/s.
  • Equipped with 6 fans
  • Total electrical power 45 kW

 The tunnel is equipped with a system that allows vertical displacement and rotation of the models to simulate the bending and torsion of a wind turbine blade section.

It is primarily used in tests to determine the dynamic characteristics of profile behaviour and deep stall.

 
 

Our officies

The University Institute of Microgravity "Ignacio Da Riva" is part of the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid. We have one site at the Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingeniería Aeronáutica y del Espacio, within the Moncloa campus, and another at the Montegacedo campus.
